The winery

From sharecroppers to owners of our own land

Cascina Sòt is a farmhouse more than four hundred years old in the Bricco San Pietro cru, in Monforte d'Alba. The Sanso family has lived and worked here for three generations.

Who works here

Six people, one winery

At Cascina Sòt the daily work is done by six of us: five of the family plus Luca, with seasonal help only for the hand harvest.

  • MaurizioWinemaker — leads production and the growth of the winery
  • LeonardoTradition — the vineyard, the hands, the memory
  • SilvanaOrganization — holds the farm together, every day
  • LorenaTastings — welcomes guests and presents the wines
  • GaetanoThe vineyard — Lorena's husband, on the team since 2023
  • LucaThe young winemaker — in the cellar and the vineyard with Maurizio, and now and then you'll find him at the tastings too

How we work

Few rules, all of them kept

No herbicides: grass between the rows, and in the vineyard a defence based mainly on copper and sulphur. In the cellar, order, hygiene and work done by hand. The winter cold takes care of tartaric stabilization, water from the well controls the temperatures.
